Overview

Impact US supports youth that are currently in the foster care system by providing weekly support groups along with education, group discussion and opportunities for incentive-based extracurricular activities.

Program Details

No one ever said being a teenager was easy. But for youth coming of age in the foster system, young adulthood brings its own unique set of challenges to overcome.

The Impact US program provides educational services, life skills training and general health education including:

  • Sexual and reproductive health education
  • Money management
  • Independent living skills
  • Mental health wellness

Impact US uses a support group/psycho-educational group-like setting, which meets weekly over a six-month period for two hours each week.

Age 17

"I have always been scared about growing up and being all on my own. I never really had anyone to teach me how to do that before. But the groups at Great Circle are making me feel less scared, I'm learning a lot about how to take care of myself and it's nice to be able to talk about everything with people who really care."
