The Food Bank and City of Columbia Deliver a Sweet Treat to the Kids on the Columbia Campus!

The Food Bank and City of Columbia Deliver a Sweet Treat to the Kids on the Columbia Campus!

In December, the mayor of Columbia Bob McDavid challenged Jefferson City Mayor Eric Struemph to a One-4-One Holiday Food Drive contest between the two cities in an effort to collect food donations for The Food Bank for Central and Northeast Missouri. Jefferson City-based Central Dairy then upped the stakes by offering to donate an ice cream party to a nonprofit of The Food Bank’s choice.

After a fierce competition, the City of Columbia was victorious! The Food Bank generously chose to give the kids living on Great Circle’s Columbia Campus the ice cream party, and Central Dairy delivered buckets of the sweet treats to the excited kids. Mayor McDavid even stopped by to hand out scoops. It was a fun-filled afternoon and the ice cream went fast, despite being one of the coldest days of the year.

Great Circle would like to thank Mayors McDavid and Struemph, The Food Bank for Central and Northeast Missouri, and Central Dairy for including our kids in the fun! We’d also like to thank ABC-17 and FOX-22 for their promotion of this “cool” event. We are thankful to be a part of such a generous community!
